town at the first of the movie !

Well, even though the first rodeo scene where he is the clown doesn't look much like Rocksprings, Texas for real, it still gives a person a thrill to see your town's name in the movie. When this was suppose to have taken place, Rocksprings was the best open Rodeo to go to in the state. It gives a person a little thrill to see it get a little credit knowing every time someone watches this movie it is a reminder of the great times at the Rocksprings Rodeo for some of us. Ben Johnson might have gotten old but he is still THE MAN. No one can beat him horseback. They just don't make um like him anymore. It is a movie you can watch over and over again and get something out of everytime.

Interesting you would mention this scene.

Those scenes were shot at the Guthrie Fairgrounds in Guthrie, Oklahoma. My girlfriend and I were extras in the crowd. Interesting experience. I remember they shot that in three days in the middle of August...all day. Very hot. There weren't many people actually in the crowd but kept moving us around.

And wow how the arena has changed at the fairgrounds too. I rode up there last month and I watched the movie a little later and man it sure is different but you can recognize alot if you look closely. This is deffinately one of my all time favorites.

WOW! I can't believe I found another extra on here! I was an extra on this one too. I'm from Norman, but got the part through a friend on the crew. I was also an extra in Twister and had a small speaking part in Texasville! :)
