Why Was Arthur A Threat? Doesn't Make Sense?

I always watch and enjoy this movie when it's on, but actually- what sense does it make that they're so worried Arthur is a threat? Why would Joyce rant about Arthur? He'd reveal it was really his wife who was the killer and Joyce wasn't? How is that bad for Joyce, other than lying to cops, which is a better charge than murder? Am I missing something?

reply

No.

Cynthia lied to Arthur, saying that Joyce killed Jimmy, according to the pact that both women made. Then Cynthia told Joyce that she told Arthur. Arthur believes that Joyce killed Jimmy. Cynthia is responsible for the attack on Jimmy, and Joyce is now culpable in delaying getting Jimmy to the hospital. Plus, Joyce can't be sure WHAT Cynthia actually told Arthur.

Seeee....Seeee? LOL.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

Lol. Makes sense. Thanks! Was also seeing how this was based on true story of two friends who each ended up whacking the other's wives. One by hire & one to cover up the murder- for-hire.
