DID ANYONE ELSE THINK THIS WAS FANTASTIC

I saw this at the theatre when it first came out but I
remember being very impressed by the film noir aspect
and wonderful plot twists. It harkened back to those
Barbara Stanwyck, Bette Davis type films that had you
on the edge of your seat. I'll have to find it and
take another look some twenty years later and see if the
36 year old me agrees with the teenager I was when I
first saw Mortal Thoughts. As I recall it was not a blockbuster
and I believe the reviews were mixed.

I saw this film at the theater, too, and I loved it as well. Definitely a fan of the film noir feel and the atmosphere of the setting (ie working class New Jersey). The actors and filmmakers captured the mood so well.

I watch this film regularly, at least twice a year, and it holds up just as well for me now as it did from the first.

I hope you feel the same.

"...is that the correct answer to the multiple choice of me?" ~ from "Michael Clayton"

Absolutely...I would definitely give it 8 stars for its sheer entertainment value...including very good acting and a good plot. And compared to ALL THE CGI- and ACTION-ORIENTED, OVERPRODUCED CRAP that plays today, it's a 9. It's about the only movie of Demi Moore's that I can possibly tolerate (and I more than tolerated it...I really, really liked it). Ditto for Bruce Willis. I really think that Glenn Headley should be in far more films than she is.

Excellent movie, although my only gripe about it was that we only got a one sided story from Cynthia. i wish they could have somehow had Joyce speaking with one set of cops (Say Harvey Kietel with a random cop and, Billie Neal and a random cop)and then having Keitel and Neal comparing notes....

I mean, don't get me wrong, this movie worked, but i think it would have been more suspenseful and "confusing" if both women told their versions of the story and then having the two cops comparing the stories.

Joyce was very intense and I think that Glenne Headly did this role justice.

Surprised the hell out of me as one of those psychological thrillers that stands the test of time & still holds up 20 years later despite the unsympathetic characters...the Fab Four (Bruce & Demi, Harvey & Headley) totally rise above the Jersey accents & lurid subject matter! Its playing on the Encore Channel a lot this month & I find myself watching it the whole way through every time & I even added it to my Amazon Wishlist today!

Heh, I love when I find my old comments from IMDb LOL. This was back when we did a lot of texting and you had to make them as short as possible because you used to get charged for every one of them, so we were used to writing "shorthand textspeak" if you will. 😂😂😂😂
