The Best Actor To Play Luciano...

The best actor that could possibly play Lucky Luciano, credibly......

is Charlie Sheen.

Both Lucky and Charlie have that mean eyebrow, super keen stare, clenched mouth composure. Charlie the way he looks without makeup or special effects would look like Luciano before being abducted and scarred by Maranzano's men. Then after this abduction and beating, Charlie would be given makeup to give him the trademark droopy eye of Lucky.

Charlie is the only actor who looks mean enough to even play someone like Luciano, a criminal with two faces. One side of his face was bright and had a sense of humor. The other side was deadly and without happiness or trust.

Charlie Sheen is the only one who could play a mafia boss like Lucky who was young looking and sleek, but deadly looking enough to inspire mafia men to stand up out of respect for a Don when he entered a room with his bodyguards.

If Sheen was given a perm in his hair to make it wavy and somewhat curly...give him a wild 30's do where a lock of wavy curls goes down one side of his face towards his right eye and walla...you have your Lucky Luciano actor.

At the time, 1991, I would say yes I agree with you. Anyone would have been better than Slater who looked NOTHING like Luciano. Now? Of course not.

Look no further than this movie. The buddy (played by Mayolor?) should've switched places. Ashame ego stands in the way of putting out the best product. The could've still pumped up the movie with big name Slater in pronotion, but then him having a more secondary role for the art of the film.

Personally I always thought Miguel Ferrer would have made a good Luciano.
