Japanese to English Subtitles?

It is my understanding that no published version of this show has English subtitles for the Japanese language portions. Is that correct? Anybody know of a version that does have them?

reply

My version hasn't got it. But you get the gist of what they are saying just by gestures and visuals

reply

No you don't, not at all. I'm watching their gestures and everything...

Why did they not attack the Indianapolis upon first sighting? What were they waiting for, or were they unable to engage for some reason?

I mean, it couldn't be important, the destroyer they spotted only delivered a stupid metal box for some airplane called the Enola Gay, I'm sure that was nothing of consequence.

If anyone does ever find a page with translations or cares to do the translating themselves for our benefit here then please post. I mean I could do all my own historical research, but I much rather like to learn history from the movies instead :-P

I just watched this on DVD for the first time (rented it from Netflix) and all the scenes with Japanese language had English subtitles.

reply

Which one, this version,or the new version with Nick Cage?..I have seen both, this one did not have English subs.

reply

I was referring to this version with Stacy Keach. I know MGM had some DVDs in the early-2000s that were missing subtitles and had to be fixed. Perhaps the initial pressing of this movie on DVD lacked them as well and the error was corrected with a second pressing.
