A lot of movies are discussed on IMDB threads as deserving of the top 250 that really aren't, they are just cult classics or personal favorites of people. This film on the other hand is so uncompromising, so incredible that many of the scenes will stay with you forever. I've personally seen it over 50 times and have studied it in its entirety I can without a doubt say it should be in the top 250 here in IMDB...agree or disagree?
I agree, it's on my personal list of top ten films of all time. I originally saw it in the theatre, then rented it a couple of times on VHS, after not seeing it in years I finally just bought a VHS copy on Ebay and watched last night. I cannot believe this movie was not nominated for any Oscars, it is truly a work of art. I liked last years "Flags of Our Fathers", but that movie was a totally different animal, you really can't compare the two The legal disputes to get this re-released on DVD are unbelievable, I am almost ready to give up, thankfully I at least have a VHS copy.
I have a copy on DVD, but to buy one now that is brand new is running on EBAY at about 75 dollars which is insane. I really hope this gets re-released on DVD because the movie is remarkable and certainly should have an 8.0 on imdb.
should be in top 250, i agree. no action-war movie could make you feel that way. in this film, there's nothing about "winning", no heroes. a beautiful movie about the simple human being.
