Is this the movie I am thinking about?

I was thinking about a movie that I watched a long time ago. It was about a Christmas ceasefire. I can't remember what war it was from (WWI maybe?) and I can't remember the name - I could of sworn it was "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear". I could of sworn I watched it back in the 1980s...

I did some searching and i found this movie, but it doesn't look like it. Any ideas what movie I might be thinking about?? Any other movies about war at Christmas and maybe a ceasefire? The movie I watched wasn't a TV movie.

It's most likely from the 1969 movie 'Oh! What a Lovely War'. It's a musical that spans the years of WWI and is done very well. One of it's scenes is the 1914 Christmas truce in no-mans-land between British and German troops.

You said you could have sworn you watched the movie you are thinking of in the 1980's but perhaps you are thinking of Joyeux Noel. It is a pretty good movie about a Christmas cease fire with a WWI setting that was released in 2005. Being 37 years old I sometimes could bet my LIFE that I saw a movie in a certain decade and sometimes it happens that I was waaaay off. Memory can play tricks on you once you start to add on those years. =) Anyway, just thought I'd mention Joyeux Noel. If you haven't seen it then I suggest you give it a try. It's not too bad of a movie... that is, if you do not mind reading subtitles, as it is a French-made movie (unless you understand French!)

Don't think the OP is even keeping tabs on this but there's also another one with a Christmas ceasefire, it's a Hallmark TV movie though and the OP said it was not a TV movie. It' called Silent Night, it has Linda Hamilton... it is a Hallmark production.
