Does anyone know where this beautiful movie was filmed - there's no mention in the credits, and a google search produces nothing either.
shareYou can see it here, at "Filming locations". It was apparently shot in the island of Kastellorizo, in the Dodecanese, off the coast of Turkey.

shareI am writing this from the island of Kastellorizo, or 'Megisti' which is its official name and that preferred by the locals. In Greek this means 'The Big One', because it is all of 5km long, dwarfing the two uninhabited islands of Ro and Strongili which bracket it in this furthest flung Greek archipelago, situated within 2km of the Turkish coast.
I was first here in 1981, and was really surprised to see it as the location when 'Mediterraneo' came out 10 years later. I loved the movie, and now I have returned. I love the island, a little corner of paradise. Visit if you ever can, but don't expect nightclubs or watersports. It is quiet and tranquil, about as close to 'unspoilt' as you can get these days.
That is amazing! I'm glad to hear it stayed beautiful and unspoiled.
