Did You Like It?

I didn't like this movie but didn't hate it either. 4 out of 10. It was confusing and I didn't think the jokes were funny, also there were a couple of really bad actors in it.

I thought a lot of it was pretty hilarious, and it was really well made.

Movies on IMDB are not overrated, you're just of the minority that doesn't bloody LIKE THEM!

This Is an honest film, filled with many classic Bollywood character actors who do a terrific job of supporting Srinivas' vision of what it means to be a Hindu Indian in the transitioning times of this world today. I cannot imagine which bad actors randycoates is referring to--except maybe the few young white actors who were supposed to portray the bad guys in the film. Yes, they were a bit over the top. Other than that, everyone else was spot on.

The most important thing to me about Masala are the religious questions that it raises. What happens to the old ways in a new country? How do you keep your faith when tragedy strikes? Do we serve God, or does God serve us? If we all worship the same God, then why is there so much enmity between us all? etc.

It's never "just a film."

I loved it right up until Krishna was killed. I understood the ending, and the points it was making, but I didn't like it. It didn't seem fitting for the rest of the movie, which was a screwball comedy right up to the tragedy and then went back to screwball comedy.

You should put spoilers on that, for IMDb users who are reading this thread but haven't seen the movie yet.

This film was hilarious. I am surprised there aren't more threads discussing it.
