Can't get it off my mind

Through the years we rarely treated to those special films that stick with us forever. Often it is those films that tackle the most difficult aspects of the human experience. Don't get me wrong, the first Die Hard movie most definitely got under my skin, but not the way a film like Man in the Moon does. This film's perfection lies with its subtlety and its accuracy when dealing with all of those emotions we all experienced way back when. The first kiss, our first true love, our first heartbreak, and sadly, facing the abrupt and absoluteness of death for the first time. Man in the Moon manages to capture all of these common experiences with almost flawless execution. This story could take place in any era, any location, and any language. 1957 makes an ideal setting with its innocent values of that age. However, these themes are timeless to anyone with a pulse. We've crossed the bridges that Dani must pass over. We've all passed through the one way doors that we see Dani pass through. This film is as tragic as it is hopeful. We know that life will go on for Dani and her sister, as it has for all of us. Man in the Moon forces us to examine the scars we've all been given along the way. It forces us to address those moments that change you forever. Its those moments you never truly heal from that carve out who we are. Dani and Maureen shared something both beautiful and tragic from very different perspectives. That experience brought them closer than they could ever imagine. That summer left them both with a rare gift that would take years for them to realize. I think just about everyone has experienced that moment on the edge of adulthood where we are in such a hurry to grow up, only to find when it happens that we wish we could go back to that pleasant simplicity of being a child for just one more summer. There's no going back, all sales are final. From the opening and closing scenes in that screen porch we watch Dani's full transition from childhood to adult unfold.

Ironic that you write so densely about a movie that flows beautifully.

Very well said OP.

A few paragraph breaks would've made it easier to read.

reply

Emily, I just said the same thing! Hahaha 😄

reply

Double spaces between paragraphs would make more people want to read it, as opposed just skimming what looks too complicated to read...

TL;DR

Paragraphs exist for a reason. It's not too hard to hit the space bar.

Yes. Two thumbs down...on the OP.
