For comedy on a drunk & stoned filled saturday night, there's no beating maurice benard in " lucy & Desi; before the laughs". Benard is the epitome of bad acting at its campiest. This is the guy they chose to honorly join the "Actors Studio????" Sheeeshh!
shareYes, Benard was embarrassingly unbelievable in this movie. It would have worked if he had more acting experience and there was more attention paid by the filmmakers to his makeup and hairstyles, and he also needed a dialogue coach to help him speak Spanish and English with an authentic Cuban accent.
It's too bad they didn't cast Desi Arnaz Jr. as his famous father, like he did so well in the classic theatrical movie The MAMBO KINGS (1992).

"Heeyy Loooosy, I'm back from the club!" Pleeese. A bad cartoon if I ever saw one. Maurice stretched his acting abilities to include gaining a few pounds and appearing to have grown "man-boobs". Nice to see that besides GH Maurice, you haven't done anything significant since this low budget campy fiasco. You just keep your day job as a poor man's Tony Montana there stud.
