Frances Fisher should have won an Emmy Award for her excellent performance as Lucille Ball in this remarkable behind-the-scenes look at this famous and popular Hollywood couple. Fisher is an incredibly talented actress!!!
I know, I could just kill Lucie Arnaz for spreading such negative word of mouth about this movie. Remember all the bad press? As if Lucy was above scrutiny!
I have a good friend who is a HUGE Lucy fan, and he refused to watch this movie when it first aired because of Ms. Arnaz's rants. I finally convinced him to sit down and watch it on cable recently, and he was amazed, couldn't say enough nice things about Ms. Fisher and her performance.
The movie actually isn't bad -- much better than the recent attempt! Tho Bernard is not very good, Ms. Fisher is amazing to watch and listen to!
If you haven't watched this film, check it out -- she will blow you away!
Having just recently viewed the movie on cable after many years, I expected to at least get some belly laughs from Maurice Benard's cartoony impersonation of Desi Arnez. But watching, I realized how amazing Frances Fisher was.. really DAMN good as Ball! I really started seeing her as Ball and it's a shame she couldn't have presented this performance on a better, non movie of the week production scale..and without Maurice who is really bad.
Fisher was brilliant in this film and was matched perfectly by Maurice Benard, long before he became Sonny Corinthos. I saw this film during its original premiere and have seen it several times over the years and I still find it watchable thanks to the performances of these two actors.
