Sandra's appearance

You know it wasn't until 20 minutes into the film that I was convinced the lead actress was Sandra. Is that her real hair crimped up that way?

I love that about this movie! There are a lot of flaws in this film, of course, but the great thing about it is that it is one of the few of its type that I have ever seen where they actually make the beautiful lead actress look genuinely frumpy before her "makeover." Just compare Sandra's appearance in the beginning of this film to her appearance in Miss Congeniality. When she is supposed to be "unattractive" in that film, all they did was frizz up one lock and then make her snort and slouch ever so slightly. In this film, she is totally unrecognizable, and you actually buy the "makeover" aspect of the plot. Compare that to She's All That, etc, where often the actress is equally attractive as a "nerd" as she is at the end of the film, where she is "revealed" to be beautiful. Right on!

She does do that a lot. haha!!! Even in Practical Magic before she meets Michael she's kinda like that.

I am posting here b/c I finally bought this movie after having seen it on tv so many times I can almost quote the whole thing. This was the first movie I had ever seen Sandra B. in. I don't remember the next movie I saw her in, but I remember saying, "it's that chick from Love Potion #9!" It was before she was a star, obviously. I was amazed at my first viewing of the movie, when she turned beautiful. I truly believed she was a really ugly actress when I first saw it and had never seen her before.

The statement below is true.
The statement above is false.

There's only one other movie I can think of in which they actually make the 'swan' look like a real life 'ugly duckling' before the *big show*, and that's The Princess Diaries. They made Anne Hathaway look really dreadful before revealing her princess look. I actually thought she really looked like that in real life!

Yes it's her real hair.....and real buck teeth, too.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

She totally looked like Lou Ferrigno in the beginning of this movie!
