Why is it renamed for the DVD release?
I bought this packaged, in a tacky and obvious rip-off of the Austin Powers franchise, as Shag-a-delic! Why in the world did they do this? And why isn't it available as The Linguini Incident?

shareBizarre. My DVD version's got the original title.

I'm writing all this down in my memoirs so if I grow up twisted & warped, the world will know why.
Mine's called "The Robbery", but on the actual DVD it all says "The Linguini Incident".
As long as the roots are not severed, all is well and all will be well in the garden.

^ Per the above, Shepard has basically disowned this movie, though he says he'd like to revisit it, however unlikely that may be.
I think the rights have reverted to some shady figures who can do as they please, which includes "renaming" it for video releases...
the rights have reverted to some shady figures who can do as they please, which includes "renaming" it for video releasesIt's definitely weird. I got it as "Shag O Rama," - the weirdest name ever since there's no sex in it and the word 'shag' isn't even in the script (?) This funny, rainbowy-flower "Shag O Rama" comes up so randomly in the opening titles. (So they actually did alter it on this version.)
Bowie is excellent in this, as he's excellent in everything. The man can do it all – and has. Still, this is one of his weaker films, perhaps his weakest, though he makes every scene he's in worthwhile.
And yes, there's not a single shag scene in this film – carpeting or otherwise. And "The Linguini Incident" has nothing to do with the Guns N' Roses album "The Spaghetti Incident?"
