Question: Outside the mother's funeral.

What was going on when Le Tour was talking to Marianne's sister outside of the mother's funeral. Some woman comes by and shoves them and utters an obscenity, something like "You don't blanking care about me!"

What's that? I didn't understand this at all.

reply

It was either a wandering junkie or an aimless vagabond that just randomly crossed their paths.

Otherwise, logically (if it did have a meaning) it could have been one of Le Tour's past customers running into him on the streets.

I was confused by this moment too. vincevega918's theories are pretty good. The woman could also have been another person at the funeral who was bothered by his presence. Possibly one of his and Marianne's friends who took her side after they split up (as Marianne says most of them did).

reply

I think it was a random junkie or psychopath. But what was more distracting to me was how terrible the acting was in that scene, from the actress who played Marianne's sister. Just so amateurish, like she could hardly remember her lines, and to the degree she did remember them, she didn't really have a grasp as to their meaning.

reply

She was stuttering on purpose for acting reasons, better than robotically reciting them.. Ya it was just a junkie, I live in Vancouver BC we have tons of flailing heroin junkies all over the place I get accosted daily by them

reply

I thought it could be just a passing person who was annoyed at them filming the scene and getting in her way and Schrader liked it and kept it in.
