Why we mustn't bring back hanging

Much talk on here, so thought I'd relate a story I heared recently.

The following relates to a miscarriage of justice here in the UK.
I will not mention the location, the victime or the person who suffered a miscarriage of justice.

Someone I know lives locally to the area in question and was drinking in a pub with his friend, who worked on this case - not the leading man/woman heading up investigation but certainly involved.

My Friend - So that case then - doesn't seem like much to me, sure you've got the right man

Copper - Well, you know, you've gotta get someone sometimes, case like that....."

That was all he said about the case which laterly was found to be a total farce.

Like I say i won't mention any further about, but it makes you wonder, I have no doubt that had DP been still allowed by law there is a good chance this person would have hanged.

reply

I would say that is not so much about the death penalty, as it is about dangerously shoddy, apathetic police work.

I run this place- ME! I say what goes and what don't go!

reply

Well in the days of Death Penalty the person would have hanged under the laws of the time.

reply

Not necessarily. What was the supposed offence?

reply

Well it was a Murder and back in the 50's the person would certainly have been hanged.

reply

Depends if it was before or after the Homicide Act.

reply

I know I wasn't going to say but it was a street shooting.
