When Chris Craig's brother is being arrested at his house, he snatches a gun from a holster on one of the policemen and starts firing.
Surely British police were not armed in the 1950s?
I don't remember the scene so I can't say with any certainty, but they've always had armed units if they're dealing with firearm situations. Also the police who guard foreign embassies have been armed for a long time. It's only your average beat policemen who aren't routinely armed.
