Darien makes this pic almost unwatchable all by herself.

I hated this kid. Talk about a spoiled brat!

I'm a big fan of Danielle Harris in just about everything, but I must agree. Her character was wretched and spit out unrealistic dialog.

i know she's supposed to come off as a brat etc but i actually like her in the role.

but like you, Danielle Harris seems pretty cool (and hot ;) ) in real life from what i have seen in an interview of her a while back.

The dialogue was unrealistic, all of it. But it was winking at the camera, meta before meta dialogue, with some amazing lines, and jokes. Once I got used to the characters quipping every five seconds, like they knew they were in a Hollywood movie I embraced it for all its glory.

And Danielle Harris got to swear more than any other character in the movie, and probably more F-Bombs than any other character ever on screen.

I thought Danielle Harris was superb as a child actress in the "Halloween" films, but sadly & surprisingly she stunk here.
Her dialogue was forced & unfunny and her character was terrible too.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

But she came through for her Dad in the end! Her being bratty was essential to the story so we see how she grew up and straightened out to save her father and learned to respect him.

No matter what movie I see Danielle Harris in i'll always see her as the mouthy daughter.

I agree, her character was abhorrent and a spoiled little brat that needed a smack on the mouth. Hell my mother would've knocked me into the wall and grounded me for a month for behaving like that, especially with company over.

YAY FOR CHILD ABUSE!! Phhft, what a *beep* retarded twat you are!! Every mother that smacks her kids deserves ovarian cancer.

Every "spoiled little brat" in history was the product of a crappy *beep* mother and/or father, END OF STORY.

The reason most "kids these days" don't respect their parents are cuz most parents don't DESERVE any *beep* respect!!

I'm thrilled "kids these days" are out of control, 'cuz their parents deserve their misery plus I hate this worthless *beep* planet, so I'm a huge fan of any destruction & rebellions that may lead to long-awaited extinction.

The idea of all the people who support beating children dying instantly is almost as appealing as dreaming of my own death. WIN WIN!!

Harris's performance didn't have many layers or nuance to her anger\frustration and was pretty much one dimensional; but that said it wasn't a realistic film and very sensationalized. She just came over as sulky, aggravated and self-conscious to me. I have seen her in several films as a kid and older and she is not that great an actress.

As for being the abhorrent little brat she was—I didn't see her as being spoiled, not in the Hallenbeck family—I think Joe would have made a few allowances for her, considering his shaky relationship with his wife and that she was screwing his best friend. Darien was all caught up in the middle of it.

She is a brat for sure, but she is the opposite of spoiled.

reply

I agree.

I detested this movie.

No way, she was fucking hilarious. She always had a screen presence of someone much older. A little monster, sure, but funny. She was her father's daughter for sure. Hell, she was her mother's daughter too. No one in this family was kind or gentle.
