Is this that movie?

I remember myself watching a movie when I was like six or seven years old (I´m 19 now) and I can still remmeber some things about it: An old lady telling the story to what seemed to be her grandchildren and using a little model of a polar bear. That was the start. This bear was actually a prince cursed by an evil witch that was supposed to be saved by a princess. She started some kind of journey to find... something? my memory is not that good. The other image that really got sticked to my mind is that of the princess climbing vertically upwards a cliff by using magic shoes that losed their powers when getting wet.
Now...
IS THIS THAT MOVIE?!!!! or can someone tell me the name of the movie I´m talking about?
Please any comment would be helpful.

That kind of sounds like it. I'm in the middle of watching this movie and it's been YEARS since i've seen it...But at the beginning, there's no old lady. But it is about a prince who has to live as a polar bear for 7 years because the witch cursed him....

But does his fiancée has to save him or something? Does she use those magic shoes? That´s what I remember the most.

reply

ok yeah you are right!! i watched the movie, and the princess has to climb up the side of the mountain with the magic shoes and then there's a trickle of water and they do get wet. Then at the END, is what you were describing with the grandfather showing his granddaughters what happened with the polar bear figurine. that's it!

I was actually surprised to see that a Wal-Mart had it! I don't know if it's available on their website or not.

I think I remember this movie too. Isn't it's English title like The Polar Bear King or something? I was also a child when I watched it (maybe 8 or 9; I'm 22 now). I remember the magic scissors. Weren't they cutting throw some cloth all by themselves? I'm trying to figure out if this is the same movie as the one that I'm remembering.

reply

Yep, that stuck in my mind too

I remember having and watching this movie when I was younger! Now I am in college and in a mythology course when I came upon a familiar story (Eros and psyche), so I had to look it up.

I remember this. I could have sworn the guy who played Q on Star Trek was in it. This is the one where she messes with the witches potions and turns everyone into swords or something?

After metal, everything else in your life got the volume turned down.

reply

Hahaha, this is the right movie, but she doesn't turn them into swords. She makes them disappear and when they are gone, their chairs are the only things left in the shot, and they're kinda sword-like.
