Need more of a Plot Explanation

I was able to purchase a DVD of this film but it does not have English subtitles and I don't speak Polish. Can anyone give me more of an in depth lot explanation? Who was the soldier Kroll found hanging in the shower? Why was he killed? Why does Kroll desert? The two women seem to dislike each other at first, yet by the end of the film they look like they are friends why? One of the men in the movie changes places with Kroll in order to allow him to escape. Why? At the end of the film Linda is seen laughing as he walks down the hallway what is he laughing about?

It's obvious that the plot is much more detailed than what has been provided. Any further explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm from Poland and I know this movie almost as good as the back of my head (like other Wladyslaw Pasikowski's films, to be honest... A few years ago he was a GOD of filmmaking in my country), so I can explain a few things to you.
First of all, that soldier you mentioned wasn't exactly killed, he hung himself. He did it because of the sadistic treatment he experienced from other soldiers (Polish army is quite like American prison for toughest criminals... which doesn't mean it's any good!)- simply couldn't take it any more (a very often thing in our army... I mean commiting suicide). He was Kroll's only friend, and Kroll couldn't take it any more either, so he decided to desert. And that's the point of all story - he is escaping to freedom, and finding out that the only thing that's waiting for him is hell. His wife is cheating him with his best friend... and that's not the only dissapointment he has to face.
Those "disliking each other" women are Kroll's sister (who knows about the betrayal) and wife. Kroll's friend takes his place to redeem himself (like it was possible...), but Kroll DOESN'T come back to his wife, and both girls come to the army base to visit him, but he isn't there... Noone knows what he did after the switch.
And why is Linda laughing at the end? He's going to treat that guy like he would treat Kroll or any other soldier - VERY BAD (or much worse, because he deserves it). It's going to be a living hell for him. Personally, I think it's the best scene of the film, it's so... fair!
Remember what corporal Wiaderny (Cezary Pazura) said to Linda:

-Kroll once told me that all women are ...ores, except for our mothers. And that everything is ...hit, except for ...iss.

That's basicly the message contained in Pasikowski's movies.
