You can never measure your memories, specially if you lived life fully in popular culture and magic of 80’s. Such first impressions would (for most of folks) remained intact. I can’t say that Kid (1990) is exemplary selection I would attribute with "80’s gen|" label, but I don’t mind if you do.
Although both by mood, visuals and partly relaxed sense that was so evident in 80’s, many movies, even deep in early 90’s, still had a glimpse of that feeling.
The score of Kid reminds little of "Dudes 1987" although Bernstain’s signature is different, more atmospheric, rather then thematic, which is somewhat similar with Kid score :
