Region 1 DVD? PLEASE????

Anyone know if and when this will see a region 1 DVD release? Or how and who fans can appeal to for a DVD release?

It is a crime that no one has yet put this film on dvd. the kind of utter crap that gets 3 different releases, when gems like this haven't found a home yet. Wish I could suggest who to contact, and plead for a region 1 disc. Hopefully those connected will see our thread.

i agree with you, there should be a region 1 dvd of kafka
my sister angie and her friend tiffany And me enjoy this movie
for most portions of it
the chicken man sequence though, is quite annoying
they should come up with a two-disc kafka dvd
where they have deleted scenes, behind the scenes interviews, trailers,
a trivia game, a virtual tour of kafka's office, and other extras that would make you go this is a nice dvd
if there was a special edition dvd, there would have to be three cuts
of the film
1] an edited down pg rated cut [for younger audiences] [that would be edited for the chicken man sequences, and any other elements that you'd leave out for a pg rated cut, and would replace the edited out elements with kafka telling longer versions of his stories to people]
and
2] the regular pg-13 version w/ deleted scenes
and
3] an extended pg-13 cut w/ deleted scenes

Let's Use this as a Petition form asking for the DVD release of one of the best independent films of the early 90's.

And while they're at it do a proper region 2 release too! Preferable the 2 Disc Directors Cut edition Soderbergh is supposed to be preparing!

In Sweden Kafka has been released as a Region 2 DVD, but with no extras - only the theatrical cut of the film

DVD Found!

Region One, NTSC from Japan. I just bought it from EBay and it arrived. It's just the film, but it is LETTERBOXED!

Here is the info for the item on EBay:

Kafka Japanese DVD Jeremy Irons Soderberg Widescr NTSC

This DVD was released in Japan. As far as I know, this is not available on DVD in the US.

It is in NTSC format, the video standard used in Japan and North America.

This DVD is NOT region coded. This means the disc is "region free", also known as "region 0" or "code 0" and can be played in DVD players around the world. Yes, you can play this in Region 1 DVD players in North America. This DVD was produced in a digital-master production process which is used in Japan for limited releases, and not a glass-master pressed production process which is generally used for production runs of 10,000 plus units. However, digital mastered DVDs and glass-mastered DVDs have the exactly the same capacity, video and audio quality, and playback capabilities.

The disc is new and sealed in a tall DVD case.

There is some writing on the box in Japanese, which makes this even more of a collectors item. There are no forced subtitles, i.e. subtitles that can not be turned off.

Just the Facts
Screen: Widescreen, B&W, color
Running Time: 99 minutes
Audio: English
