Would be great if Criterion put this out on blu-ray

Surprised this never even got a region 1 dvd release but this film would be a perfect choice for Criterion to handle. They have a couple of Soderbergh films in the collection and Kafka would make a perfect addition.

The film has a great cast and is beautifully shot. I loved this film when I saw it in the cinema and I don't think I have seen it since. Such a shame that it is buried somewhere.

It is interesting as this film was the first LD I ever bought, watched it dozens of times since, and yet it never was released on (US) DVD. I can't believe it has been overlooked to this extent, especially considering the director's successes since then. Johnny Guitar was just announced for BD release, so there is hope yet (if not Criterion, at least Olive Films is putting out a number of overlooked gems).

It seems like the type of film that would be right up their alley. Soderbergh is already well represented in the Criterion Collection and he was recently working on a "completely new" version of the film with the intention of releasing it alongside the original (presumably on Blu-Ray), which sounds very much along the lines of the type of package Criterion would put out.

This is essentially what I came here to post.

I would really like a digital copy, or at least a Bluray.

I often wonder why so many films are absent from VUDU. Here is to hoping that Kafka finds it's way to a modern format soon.

The 25th anniversary is coming up this year, hopefully that will give someone the idea.

I have the laserdisc, which I dubbed to a DVD-R for my own use and a Japanese DVD. But in both the black and white cinematography is very washed out and flat.
