i could have sworn that the movie (which was on uk tv wednesday night) was slightly different.
i thought that harold broke his leg only a few hundred feet from reaching the summit and told taylor to go to the summit on his own because it was a life long dream and the only chance he'll ever have. so harold waited for taylor to nip to the top and then collect him on the way down.

am i thinking of another movie?

p.s. anyone else slightly annoyed by the fact that it was ok for two new members to be considered ready for such a trip with only two weeks notice? raa!

i dont know about the "tag the summit" storyline but it sounds suitably bad to belong to this movie. by the way, if your ps is the only annoying thing about the film then you cant be bothered easily. this film is awful!

Nope, you've got it wrong.

There is an impending storm and if they don't make a long, heroic push for the summit immediately they will be forced to turn around go back. Dallas and an asian guy, 'roshi' I think it was go first, deciding to push through the storm. By daybreak Roshi returns, severely injured, and dies at the camp and Dallas is missing. So the two heroes push forward and reach the summit. But in their hurry to get down one of them falls and smashes his leg and lands on a ledge...next to a frozen and dead Dallas. The other manages to rig a rope and splint and drags his friend down low enough for a helicopter to save them just before the storm comes in that would've killed them.
