Terrible movie...
Okay, I went back and re-watched this movie after seeing it years ago. I was amazed at how bad it was. I can't really say it was the acting as there are some very good actors who turn in quality performances. There were also some interesting moments of dialogue such as the women's circle that delve into the issue of race. I guess the fault lies with the overall quality of the writing and directing.
I will say that Spike Lee has become an very strong director over the years. I thought Malcolm X was excellent, as was Inside Man. The 25th Hour, and Summer of Sam were both surprisingly good and Do the Right Thing was unpolished but intriguing. That said you can really see how far he's come by watching some of his earlier work.
Has anyone else watched this recently? Does anyone else find the script and much of the writing forced and awkward?
