If you want to know Georges Sand...

may I recommend reading "Correspondance entre Georges Sand et Gustave Flaubert" or its English translation. I watched Impromptu again last night and while Judy Davis was, for me, magnificent, there's nothing like reading the private letters between two dear friends at the peak of their game. It's a bit like sneaking a peek at someone's diary. Or so I would imagine.;D

IMO, this film was very underrated at its time. I looked back at reviews from when it was released and even the NYT gave it warm to poor notices. Great cast. And Hugh Grant was lovely prior to the corruption of rom com fame.
