I know everyone has their own opinion, but here is how I would save the movie.
Make it a PG rated movie. Take out the jarring the bloody violence, the cursing, and the sex jokes and you have an average family comedy. Being that this is an R-rated movie, the slapstick and the movies since of humor are quite jarring and out of place
The actual rating of the movie aside, a little less of the violence (and the body count), and more of the humor. And if they want to be bold, make it a musical. Either that or take out the interludes between Bruce Willis and Danny Aiello completely.
Are we beginning to see the possibilities here?
Err, no. Then it would be another bland, neutered piece of Hollywood shít instead of the charming black comedy that it is, and which has made it a cult favourite.
