Watching this on Film4.....

Can you believe that they actually included a subtitle that warned against inhaling helium?

I never thought I'd live to see the day a British TV channel insulted my common sense like that.

Funny how they didn't put up similar warnings about riding a motorcycle with no helmet, electrocuting yourself on a light bulb fitting, or passing a hankerchief through your ears.

Seriously of all the carzy crazy stuff that happens in this comedy movie they feel that the helium scene should carry an on-screen warning? Buffoons.

And don't get me started on the cuts made to avoid bad language. The F word I can understand (at least they didn't do like the DVD and cut out the line resulting in an awkward jump-cut) but to cut out the word 'piss' and *beep* at 8:00PM was ridiculous.

Man I wanna write a strongly worded letter of complaint so bad right now.

I think that the subtitles where actually in the film in the first place.

I can assure you my good man they were not.

The region 2 DVD did a real hatchet job on this film's funniest moments but what Film4 did (they showed it again last night) was a travesty.

It's comforting to know the TV channels on the other side of the pond are as messed up as those here.

Our tv channels in the UK are only messed up before 9 pm though - after 9 pm no film will have its bad language cut out or altered and you will find nearly every programme after 9 pm using the F word and the C word. We are actually very relaxed when it comes to what we show on tv, you just have to watch after 9 pm because that's the cut off point for restricted viewing.
