Spoof on Charles Foster Kane?

You remember the scene of Topper and Ramada in the elevator? Topper made this chuckling/smiling look towards Ramada off-camera. The angle and mannerisms of Topper in that scene are strongly reminiscent of C.F. Kane when he's smiling after writing his principles for the newspaper. Anyone else think the same thing?

If that's deliberate, that's one hell of a spoof.
