Theres a similar joke in an episode of Monty Pythons flying circus whenever someone sits down you hear a pig squeeling. I dont know if the makers of Hot shots were thinking of that when they did the sitting on dog joke

The dog is the same dog that appeared in The Accidental Tourist. Of course, it is a running gag that they keep doing it.
