Is part deux as funny as the first movie?

I saw the trailer for part 2 and it didn't seem as funny as part 1...anyone who has seen the whole movie could please tell me if it is funny? :)

IMO part 2 is better than part 1

Part 1 is one of my favourite comedy movies (along aith Airplane and Naked Gun) but part 2 is even better

I liked Hot Shots Part Deux, but the original was better.

It's really hard to quantify funny.

I would probably have to watch the two movies together and take notes to determine which was better. But, even if the first movie did turn out to be the better one, the second one trails behind very little. It's one of those rare sequels that are for all intents and purposes as good as the original.

I saw both films back-to-back on the weekend, and I can easily say that the original is more consistently funny throughout, it just never lets up.

The second film takes quite a long time to get going and doesn't throw so many jokes at you at once, however the last half an hour (once they go into the jungle to rescue the hostages) is hilarious.

I loved part Deux better, especially the scene where Charlie Sheen is on the boat, reprising his well known journal entry from Platoon, when, low-and-behold, here comes Martin Sheen thinking out his lines from Apocolypse Now. They spot each other, and tell one another, "Loved you on Wallstreet. "

How a scene like that wouldn't be considered genius is beyond me.

reply

Ha ha ha. I love that scene.

Let's be bad guys.

The original is a little funnier, sharper.
