In the taxi in NYC, the radio is giving the baseball scores for the three-game divisional championships. It begins with reporting that the Blue Jays won their game. But the Blue Jays didn't enter MLB until around 1976, and weren't around in the 1950s, when this film was set. I don't recall any previous team using the name Blue Jays before Toronto, but I could be wrong. Just curious.

shareIt was present day, or close to it, in the '70s. Shortly after that scene, Faber leaves NYC by getting on the boat, where he meets Sabeth, who, we learn soon, was born in 1958. The radio was giving a clue as to the decade, though I was confused about the time some too.
shareI thought Sabeth she was born in 1938 or so as Faber was with Hannah in Switzerland BEFORE the war, and he later asked Joachim's brother why Hannah, a jew, would go back to Munich. He crash lands in 1958, and the movie proceeds in "real time" over a just a few weeks from there. I'm not even a baseball fan, and the Blue Jays reference caught my attention as well. If you're going to go to the trouble to insert a vintage radio broadcast into the soundtrack, you should make the vintage fit the period.

The radio was loud and distinct enough in the movie that I was certain the inclusion was intentional - I thought the setting had moved up to the 1970's until I discerned elsewise.
