Falters in the final reel (SPOILERS)

There were some really lovely elements of this film. Beautiful cinematography in many cases, a unusual and affecting love story, and even much of the early portion of the film before Delpy enters was good as well. I especially enjoyed the moment when the flight attendant came out to offer everyone breakfast in the desert. Bizarre and surreal yet somehow you could imagine it happening.

But the incest reveal, and then the way the snakebite scene was portrayed, pretty much took the film down into a cheesier level of melodrama. Shame, that.
