They Cheated
I know i'm nitpicking but they cheated at the end taking the Lake Pontchartrain causeway instead of the actual US-61.

I was thinking they had already cheated earlier in the movie as well. I think as Pokey narrated he said they merged onto I-55 around Memphis and "from there it's a straight shot to New Orleans." Am I right about that? Or does 61 combine with I-55 for a while and then split up again? I've driven all of that in the past when going to Louisiana from Indiana, but I may not remember it correctly now.

The coffin floating presumably into the Gulf, at presumably sunset, but heading to the right, presumably south...
Yeah it merges with I-55 at exit 23 in Arkansas and gets off at exit 7 in Memphis. It also merges with I-20 in Vickburg MI.
I've been on the road for too long.
