impossible to find original zeist version?

I really want to watch the atrocious theatrical cut (I love bad movies) but I can only ever find recuts and fan edits. Anyone know of a DVD or download of the original version?

My name is Mike. His name is Bob

No DVD with English audio intact anyway.
You may want to do a search for the Highlander II: The Quickening - Restored Early European Version or REEV for short. It was a fan restoration that made the rounds a few years back. Check fan edit sites, it might still be "available".

theres downloads of it available around the net.

as for an actual DVD. theres foreign releases of the DVD that have the theatrical cut. you could probably find it on any of the international online retail stores. youd most likely need a region-free DVD player.

All the foreign DVDs of the Zeist version of H2 (and there aren't many of them around) are dubbed (no English audio at all) and would be of little use.

dont see how that can be right if theres dvd rips of the theatrical cut and they are in english.

id find that odd since on the highlander forums there are several who have DVD copies of the theatrical cut and always suggest a certain release to those that want the movie in that compromised version. wouldnt think theyd do that without mentioning its not in english. this was years ago, so for all i know that release is out of print. *shrugs*

I was actually thinking of the restored fan edit of the 100-minute long UK/European theatrical cut but the shorter US theatrical is out on DVD in UK and France, the French also being uncut and anamorphic widescreen.

The restored edit of the UK/European theatrical Zeist version is my preferred cut of the two though. Good work combining the footage from the Italian DVD with the English audio from other sources. This one seems to have vanished from the net since it's "release" though.

It's easy to find on LaserDisc and VHS in the states. Someone could easily make a DVD from them. I own it, unfortunately I don't have the equipment to make a transfer.

I own it on VHS. You may need to download a torrent if you want to see it. It would be funny if they re-released the theatrical cut and called it the "Zeist Edition".

Buy the italian DVD. It's the theatrical cut.

It's etched into my shattered memories, which I'd gladly give you were it possible.

There is a UK DVD that is going very cheap which I believe is the theatrical cut, it has all the Zeist scenes and is a lot shorter than the Renegade Cut.

I remember getting mine for a few quid at the local HMV in town.

This is the US theatrical cut, 86 minutes, red shield, zeist, connor smiling at louise ending etc

The top one is UK DVD but is 4:3 and quite rubbish quality but 2nd one if French dvd release which has English and removable subtitles - best quality US theatrical officially released

The only release of the European theatrical cut (fairy tale ending) is on a rare Italian DVD but it doesn't have English (there may have been a laserdisc as well but I am not sure)

The above-described Region 2 PAL DVD is still readily available on many major UK retail sites, usually at dirt-cheap prices. American buyers will need a multi-regional DVD player.

I'd take the French release over the UK one since the French is in its original aspect ratio and anamorphic as well while the UK one is pan&scan. Maybe not as available as the UK one but you can still find it available by marketplace sellers on Amazon.fr

Note: some sellers may not ship internationally.
