I understand people hated the original version because it retconned the origin story into them being aliens. But now that this has been changed back to fit the first movie better, what do you find so extremely crappy about this movie? (it's an honest question to you, I'm not saying you should like the movie, I'm really just curious why the movie is still hated in this new version :)) The first one is fun pulp itself, personally I enjoy this sequel in it's 'director's cut version' in the same way.

It doesn't fit at all. If they wanted a Lambert/Connery reteaming they should have just eliminated the Highlander references and called it The Shield or something else and let it be it's own thing. It would have been an ok dumb sci-fi action movie. As a sequel to Highlander it is one of the worst movies ever made. No question.

It's hardly one of the worst movies ever made, the theatrical cut maybe but not the Renegade Version.

And to elaborate further about the hate and the low rating...
Most of the audience for any sequel (especially one with a "2" in the title) are going to be people who were fans of the original.
In this case, the original had a huge cult following, yet this sequel treated that film with total disregard; basically a big middle finger to the bulk of the viewers.
So, to a casual viewer who doesn't care so much about the original, maybe it's not the worst.
But the majority of the people who bothered to watch (let alone rate) Highlander 2 were people who were fans of the first one, and most of those people felt supremely let down.
