Ha Ha Ha... Even Kevin Bacon dislikes this film.

He was on Stern today saying that he "hated this film." Glad to see he is honest.

Yeah it was pretty annoying.

I wouldn't go so far as 'hate'; but it's one that deserves to be forgotten, that's for sure...

I'm sorry, I don't speak monkey...

Whoa. I think it's okay. Not great but definitely alright.

What’s not to like? I doubt that he used the word “hate” and how honest can one be on that show? But I am not surprised that an actor would not go out on a limb to defend a film that didn’t do well and/or is out of date.

He should be more embarrassed by 'Pyrates', although perhaps he gives that one a pass because he was starring alongside his wife, Kyra Sedgwick. I thought this film, 'He Said, She Said' was rather charming, and Bacon and Elizabeth Perkins had a nice rapport. Even if he now hates the film Bacon to his credit wasn't merely coasting with this movie but seemed to be having fun playing a bit of a pompous, slightly chauvinist, but nonetheless loveable and sweet jerk.

I must say however that having skirted through his filmography Bacon hasn't made that many bad films, although admittedly I haven't seen most of his less well-known ones, and so I can see why 'He Said, She Said' would rank so low in his mind especially when pitted against 'Apollo 13', 'Diner', 'Footloose', 'Mystic River', 'Flatliners', 'JFK' and 'A Few Good Men'.

reply

Since he comes off as a sexist, egotistic, lout (i.e. the typical male), I guess he's just embarassed by how he appears.

WHAT !!!! I really liked this film

reply

Well, this was one of the last light comedy roles he played, when he was likely anxious to get into some meatier drama stuff, and thinking, "duh...here we go again!" He did then, of course, doing things like Murder in the First, A Few Good Men, Apollo 13, Mystic River, et al.

So it's not strange that he wouldn't be particularly fond of one of his last light, romantic comedy movies.

Well I doubt he LOVED his time on "Guiding Light" either but some of his fans sure appreciate his work even if he can't!

It's my favorite movie by Kevin Bacon (even better than "Tremors!"). He seems to always play the "schmuck" in these love comedies because people just don't believe (from his looks) that he'd be mr. niceguy. He also played the "schmuck" in Crazy Stupid Love ("David Lindhagen") last year.

This is a movie lost in time, it's written in the style of a 1950's Cary Grant Love Comedy, but it was filmed in 1990.

I thought it was a really clever idea for the movie, and many of the tie-ins between the two "separate but equal" storylines were really great.

As usual, Kevin is a voice of wisdom amid the Hollywood hype. This is a very weak romantic comedy/drama in a field that produces many weak entries.

The performances are adequate, but I didn't get a sense that either he or she really wanted or needed the other beyond the script machinations. This is a relationship that was doomed to fail, just as this premise did onscreen. This might have worked with Hepburn and Tracy, but it that vibe failed in this '90s rehash. 5/10 stars.

It is shocking it even has a 5 rating. It was GOD awful.
