Do you believe in ghosts?

Watching this movie got me to thinking about ghosts a lot. I don't think I've ever had a ghost-type experience or anything concerning the supernatural, but some of my friends have at least claimed they have. Does anyone have any stories about an experience with ghosts or things you just can't explain logically?

I have three moments that to me I can share but I don't expect anyone to believe. Its all how everyone views it. I've always be a skeptical person with ghosts, as I have somewhat different beliefs as to what they are. But on one occasion I recall being home alone, sitting on the couch, when I got up to close all the doors in the hallway. When I went to close the door at the end of the hall, I was halfway there and it slammed in my face without me touching it. I didnt think much of it so I walked up to the door and pushed it to make sure it was closed right, indeed it was then as i made my way to the living room the door reopened. It was a bit un-nerving but I told my self otherwise. The other two I'll tell if someone's interested to hear

Mr. Newberry here has got the full-on Boo Radley, village idiot, Quasimoto thing going, don't you Mr. Newb?-Gavin

I also have a story to tell. Okay this is how it began, even though I can vaguely remember.

About when I was 9 years old a couple of friends of my parents were sleeping over at my house. My mom told me to go sleep in my grandmas old room. I was like "Ok what could happen?" Umm... a lot!! You see my grandma, had a disease, I forgot what is was. COME on!! Don't blame me! I was only 9! I'm 13 now. Well as I was saying, she was taken to the hospital. We went to visit her, but I was too young and had to stay with my brother, Angel. I knew as you say " The grim reaper was gonna make a visit." We left the hospital, and about 2 days later she died. We went to her funeral, they let me in, and said our prayers. Well like I was saying it was 9:00, when I took a bath, then got ready to sleep in my grandmas room. I was going to sleep when I realized, I forgot to get my CDs for my CD player. I went to go get them, but when I came back I saw a shadow walking in the room. Thinking it was my mom, I ran over to say goodnight, but when I went inside there was no one. I got a little freaked, but I went straight to sleep. About 2 hours later I woke up to the smell of perfume, the same my grandma would wear! I got even more freaked, yet I tried to fall back asleep. But heres the creepy part, I felt someone stroking my head when I was going to sleep!! That did it! I ran straight to the living room and slept there for the whole night. I never told my mom this, but now I sleep in my old room. This is probably my only supernatural experience I ever had! It still creeps me out to this day.

Hey guys. I watched this film a few years back and it certainly increased my interest in the paranormal. I'm Welsh/British and we have a really good programme going on over here called Most Haunted. Different locations are investigated around Britain/ Wales in microscopic detail- but they include psychics, sceptics, paranormal invesigators etc. So there are two sides explored to each haunting. there's a lot of audible phenomena caught and some orbs but there's never anything fully been caught. It's on Living TV regularly.
Anyway, my own experience occured when I was sitting in a christening in a Church in North Wales. It was a mild day- no wind. Anyway, during the service, I looked to my right out of he church window and there was this smoky shape swirling outside the glass window. It was moving in a strange way as though looking into the church. I thought nothing of it to begin with. After the service, I went outside and looked for any signs of a fire and saw nothing. The area was covered in grave stones and there was nothing there. Spooky.

Well I didnt think anyone would have responded...I did say I would tell so hear is one..I dont want to write so much and bore people and I want everyone to understand it! Ok! here we go! It was two years ago that this happened to me.It had been quite some time since I encountered anything. Well at the time my brother had been staying with us, he had a bad habit of staying out late and since I was the insomniac he would rely on me to open the door for him..My room was right next to the back door so he would tap on my window and say my name when he wanted in, and I never thought anything of it so I went to the back door and would let him in. I recall this one night as I was letting him in I realized how pitch black it was outside and I didnt even know it was him but by his voice (he has a distinct voice) and this thought came inside my head that said "how do you know your not letting evil in?" I really didnt think much of it and eventually forgot. We started to repair my room and finished christmas eve I was moving back in when we got a call from my brother that he got trouble and was in jail. After I had gotten settled...I got on the computer, everyone had fallen asleep after a while so it was quiet. I heard the tapping on my window and my name being called. To this day I can promise it sounded like my brother! But he was in jail! But I really didnt think about it at the time and made my way to my door when something stopped me in my tracks and that thought I had forgotten replayed, "How do you know your not letting evil in?" I froze and stood still,I realized he was in jail it wasnt him... I could feel the hairs standing on my neck...The tapping continued..I turned off my light and put the covers over my head..It makes me wonder what was at my back door sometimes and what that voice in my head that stopped me from possibly encountering who knows what..but thats one of my many other stories!!Got more but dont want to over-due it!! -Until next time

I don´t believe in ghost, but my Italian great grandmother was a medium. She clamed to see an old bride in black walking all over her house. Also she said that she could see angels. I had the luck to met her - a wonderful person, it was 8 years ago, I was 2 years old when she told me that I was a "gifted spirit". Probably, she was the only one (expect my mother) from my mother´s family that liked my father!

Thats pretty interesting. My great Grandmother was a curandera, or a spiritual healer. She was full blooded indian...I miss her so much! She taught me how to open my eyes to things and we were close. She claimed to see things too. She was really a great spirited person, full of life.

I also had an experience very similar to the movie. That black floating thing, i seen something verrrry similar to that a few days before my dads girlfriend died. It came from the bedroom where she was sleeping and disappeared into the wall. A few days later my dad seen the same thing. And what really gets me, is the only person who did not see the dark thing was my dads girlfriend. Spooky eh?

A few days later i was in bed and my bedroom oor opened and i thought it was my parents checking on me and there was silence, then i felt my bed slope to one side and when i tirned round nobody was there yet my bed was still on a slope so i ran down the stairs and slept on the sofa

I've had a sort of similar experience...when I was around 8 or 9, I used to fight my sister for this room, we shared ours and my brother would leave to work out of town and leave that room empty. But we could never sleep alone in that room which to this day is still true! One night I asked her if she was going to sleep there and she agreed. So I watched tv and then fell asleep. Later i felt the waterbed move...I thought it was my sister, but when I turned she wasnt there...no one was there was only a dip where something was laying down...In front of me was a mirror and when I turned to look at it I saw this Thick Black Shadow hovering over me...I ran out and to this day will not sleep there alone!

I must say I love everyone's experiences, truly creates an ambience of mystery or something...I dunno i'm just being silly. Well I did agree to share another story I am sorry that it has taken such a long time. I did say I had a similar experience to that of another post and here it goes: I remember it was a week before Christmas to the day that my uncle passed away a few years ago. He meant so much to mean, and it was truly hard for everyone. Well when we got back to our house my mother and I were trying to move things around when this really strong strong smell of roses came about. I looked puzzled at first cause it was so strong and we sniffed a candle that she had there but it smelled nothing like what we were smelling...and it was weird cause the table we were moving had his picture on it...I would step a foot away and the smell was gone, then as I moved to the table the smell was present. My eyes immediately filled with tears for I felt it was my uncle and I just couldn't help but cry with my mother. We thought it was just us, so when we moved the table to the wall you could smell it right there where his picture was. I cant exactly recall how long the smell stayed but i'll never forget it...it was so beautiful smelled like fresh roses...unforgettable. I really do wonder what it all meant, someday I'm sure I'll know.

Welcome back! yeah i too recently got back on this board

reply

Hi board,
Thanks for sharing these stories. I'm hoping someone can jog my memory. Seeing Sally Kirkland on TV recently, I had a memory of seeing her in a TV movie about a haunting. I'm guessing this is the one, but can someone verify that it featured a plume of black smoke as one of the evil spirits? I recall the end of the movie featured the family moving to a new home and the smoke followed them. Does this ring any bells?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I believe in ghosts. Afterall, the soul never dies even though the body does.

I've had some experiences with ghosts, usually hearing but not seeing them, although I believe a couple of times I have seen one. The most recent experience involved hearing a thumping sound as if you took a broomstick and tapped it on the ceiling once about every 10 or 15 seconds, occuring several times. It happened two or three times a week and only at night. The sound would start out faint and get closer, then fade away, come closer, or sound like it was going around me. I finally sat up in bed one night and rebuked it in the name of Jesus about three times, and to this day I've never heard the sound again.

Whenever I feel a presence around me I rebuke it in the name of Jesus and it leaves. There is much power in that name if you believe and are faithful.

When I lived in my first house, I took many pictures of my pets and, especially around one of my dogs, there were many orbs. I sent these pics to many Paranormal Organizations online and most of the responses were that these were in fact orbs and not problems with the film. I also posted to these groups that one night I awoke to see an elderly woman, small, hair pulled back in a bun, reaching out to touch my bed. It seemed like she was reaching to pet one of the cats, but none reacted. That's strange because I've heard animals are very sensive to the paranormal. When I saw this woman she wasn't looking at me but at whatever she was reaching out to touch. For whatever reason, I wasn't afraid, it was a calming presence and I actually reached out from under the covers to touch her. When I did she just, um, disolved into air.

A Paranormal Research Group in England wanted to come to my home with their equipment and all, but I'm in the States. Mississippi to be exact. So, that wasn't an option. I never saw anymore of the lady or any other apparitions. Although, the some of the Groups I emailed my pics to pointed out faces in windows and such that I had not noticed. Pretty creepy.

I definately believe.
