Can a bad film be good?

People will always have opinions about these things. There are some films that you honestly either love or hate and this is one of them.

I have seen enough movies to know that this one is a bad film. It follows every hollywood cliche in a brazen salute to the American Machismo.

Characters are one dimensional and seem to exist as caricatures that drive the story forward as placeholders for real characters. Nobody will miss them when they are gone.

This film is bad in the way that any other hollywood gun fest, where simply nudging a car will cause a violent explosion, where people can walk around in public firing machine guns, and all of the other cliches of the genre.

However I believe that bad films can also be good.

And I found myself enjoying this movie quite a bit.

Yes it's bad by the definition of what makes a enveloping cinema experience. It's no gone with the wind, it's not even a pulp fiction.

But it is entertaining, memorable, and it has a right to be on the silver screen as much as any movie does.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a bad movie, but try telling that to the people who love it.

So while a film may not be considered to be ground breaking or pushing a genre, or considered to use too many passe plot elements, it can still be a joy to watch and this film was a pleasure.

I willingly suspended my disbelief to this pulp masterpiece.

I find it ironic that by trying to make a film for the mainstream, they failed, but as a cult film it works well. A'la Night of the Living Dead or Evil Dead etc.

To the people that know what this movie is all about and still love it, it is indeed a good film.

This is a classic cult film that everybody dismissed when it came out in theatres.

I know what you mean that sometimes good bad movies are better than well-made good films.

3000 Miles To Graceland is another example of a guilty pleasure.

And "A Boy And His Dog" still cracks me up!

I love a lot of films others consider "bad," but I just found this one dull.
