Johnny and Tommy

So i watched this movie last night after not having not seeing it in years. Here is a good debate. Do you guys think that Johnny and Tommy would have continued being friends after what went down that night. They didn't have any problem with each other and had the most sense of anyone in the group. Also both seemed to be introverts as well. And Tommy did say "If Johnny wants to be my friend, that's fine". I think Johnny would have called Tommy to see how he's doing and they would have talked about their personal experiences with Willie and Vinny the next day or the week after. I think that Johnny would have also hooked up with that chick he met at the pool hall.

No, I don't think Johnny and Tommy would keep in touch after that night - at least not for a long while. If anything, I'd say Johnny would want to keep in touch with Willie given the fact that he seemed to be the most supportive. Johnny seemed to be rather annoyed at Tommy given the fact that he would sometimes tease him (not as often as Vinny would, granted) and the fact that he got into the car accident.

If a year went by and Tommy and Johnny became successful in their new paths, it's possible that they would contact each other briefly - but only to boast about how better their lives are with their new directions.

On another note, I noticed that the director decided to give Vinny the last shot as he got up in the morning after getting knocked down by Johnny the night before and continued to live his livestyle by chasing other women. I don't think Vinny would change at all. The director did not show the fate of Willie after Tommy chastised him and left him in the cafe. Would Willie finally change himself and go with that work program that was given to him? My gut instinct is that he would not and will continue to play the race card by whining that he's poor simply because he's Black.

Really insightful to get someone else's take on it. Tommy did come off as standoffish. But i think that Johnny would have matured by going away to college and him and Tom would have more in common. Tommy also came off as slightly prejudice so i too am not sure how Johnny and Tommy's friendship would have faired. Tommy would have probably gotten some small bit parts in film and television and would have let it go to his head. So that ego could have put a permanent roadblock in Tommy and Johnny's friendship. Willie was supportive of Johnny but Johnny would have gotten tired of Willie's mooching and false sense of entitlement.

I think if anyone has a shot from these four of being friends, it's these two.Tomm y wants to be a known actor, and Johnny had a chance to go to college, so both had upward aspirations. But it would have to be over time, because after that night, it would take awhile for wounds to heal, not that there was anything major between them.

I think there is a possibility they would remain friends. They both were pretty much the good guys of the four as both had ambition. Tom was already going for his and it took a night of disappointment for Johnny to realize that he deserved better. Johnny never after asked for anything from Tom like Vinny and Willie were. There was no pure animosity between the two aside from small, forgettable altercations during the hang out night. They would definitely be positive influences on one another and encouraging each other in their pursuits.
