Am I the only one that understands the meaning of Grand Canyon?

Am i the only one who understood the title of this movie and what it means? Why has no one else mentioned it? If you watch the end scene when they look at the spectacular grand canyon, it becomes clear.

The grand canyon represents life. Life has many ups and downs, just like the dips and mesas of the grand canyon. But viewed from afar, it all looks spectacular, beautiful and magnificent. The moral is that that is how we should look at life.

I realized this upon first viewing of the film. Why has no one else here?

Eh, I don't know if I necessarily agree with you there, WW.

I think of it more as everyone being caught up in their own problems in life, which seem monumental to them. And then coming face to face with something that truly is monumental, and then realising how insignificant some of their issues really are.

I'm not a religious person, but looking out at the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls, has an effect on me.

Yep, I tend to agree with you. This movie really impressed me. I love the irony of the producer making gratuitous movies with no substance inside a substantially thought provoking film. Everybody that comes into our lives is for reason and this film did a brilliant job within that theme.

The Grand Canyon from afar (like from an airplane) looks like an ugly jagged rip in the flat desert landscape - you can't really see any mesas or dips, just a jagged canyon. Nearer, sitting on the edge it does look more impressive and vast and timelessly ageless, so we humans seem that much more smaller with our woes and irritants. The immensity and infinite age of the thing reminds us of our tiny place in the great scheme of things.
