If you come across some interviews from way back in the day, she said she wasn't a horror fan. Also, she apparently didn't know this movie was pretty much a comedy until the test screenings (I find that hard to believe).

They should have begged Peter Jackson to take a stab at the franchise, he was very close to at one point.
By the early 90s Jackson still hadn't directed anything big, was mostly making films in New Zeland for less than USD 1 million.
(Final Nightmare had a budget of USD 5 million).
I usually only watch parts 1, 3, 7 and Freddy V Jason.
She did an ok job directing Ghost in the Machine.
