Has Al Pacino...

Ever done any other romantic roles? I'm in the middle of this fixation with him, I just saw this and I loved it to bits so I was just wondering...
Thanks :)

Well, there's Sea of Love, The Panic in Needle Park and Carlito's Way, they're very good films as well. They're all love stories but centers on different themes or Al's profession; with the 1st recommendation, he's a detective, the 2nd a junkie and the 3rd, he's a reformed drug lord.

Carlito's Way is a truly phenomenal film. Watch in true awe the on-screen chemistry between Penelope Ann Miller and Pacino - this, more than anything seals the deal.

No, Bobby Deerfield is probably Al Pacino's worst film pre-Sea of Love (not that Sea of Love was bad, but after the 4 year hiatus, he was essentially a completely different actor)

In Scent of a Woman his character is a hopeless romantic. I love when they're on the plane and he describes to Charles all the different things he loves about women. Also, Looking for Richard has a nice part when Richard is trying to woo Lady Anne. One of my fave scenes :) Serpico also has a few nice scenes between him and his girlfriend.

He's not only a hopeless romantic, but a hopeless grouch and miser as well... That's why I love that character, he's so complex and so surprising.. Sometimes he really throws you out for a loop, like on the plane when he describes the smell of pussy..:D

Scent of a Woman is a perfect example of Pacino showcasing his more romantic side, while still retaining that surly quality. I've begun an obsession as well. The man is downright fascinating. A real actor's actor who seems like a good guy and certainly isn't hard on the eyes.

Saw that. I had no idea. Richard is just so evil.

I actually really really like Bobby Deerfield plus Pacino was hot in that film. His character reminds me of Michael Corleone if he had not gone into the family business. IMO, Pacino's worst films before Area of Love were Cruisin and Revolution.

I also recommend Bobby Deerfield to the op.
