Question about shot in Viet Nam

When Eddie and Dixie are supposed to be in Viet Nam and Eddie asks why they are flying along the road, there is a shot that is supposed to be the view looking down from the chopper. In this shot we see what looks like the bombed out church where Sgt. Elias gets killed in "Platoon". I just watched "Platoon" yesterday. I am almost positive this footage was taken from stuff shot for "Platoon". Can anyone verify this?

I have it on good authority (from a propmaker on that movie) that a special set was built for this shot.

If they built it, they have done an exact replica of the church and placed it in the same location.

I had to revert the Platoon screenshot, but don't know which movie actually had it "right". Anyway, it looks pretty much the same place to me. On some closeups the graves and walls look at least partially like props and not real ruins, but IMO it's the same set.

He swears they aren't the same sets! ;-)
