scene of dancers in Viet Nam being mauled by troops


That incident actually happened. I remember reading it in the news at the time.
Standards had really changed since the first scene in the movie, where she goes out singing among the troops in the audience, even in the dark, and even after her suggestive show, and is treated with total respect. I'm not blaming the soldiers, it is just an illustration of the way American culture changed.

I remember an incident in Viet Nam where a dancer was shot to death on stage by a soldier with a gun. I guess he must have been one of those who snapped.
