Question about a garbled line of dialogue??

When "Dresser" was in the hallway after finding out that his girl was expecting.
He said, That's alright, I talked to "Big Red", and he gave me the number to this....(and it sounded something like, Stock Girls or Stop girls or something like that. Can anyone tell me what this word is, and what is the meaning thereof as it related to either pregnancy or abortion or something else?

He gave him the number to a doctor. I'm guessing it's a doctor to perform an abortion.

Tim,

The word was "doctor". Big Red had given Dresser the number to some abortion specialist; at least that is the crystal clear implication in that scene.

I believe he said he was given the number of some shop girl - Abortion was illegal in the time frame of the movie. Most likely Big Red gave him a number to a back alley woman. No Doctor in America would perform an abortion unless you had a lot of money to pay him off. Which is why (and yes I'm going off on another subject) Roe v. Wade is so important.

Back alley abortions were very common but damaged a lot of women.

He didn't say "Shop Girl" or, anything of the kind...
He said...
"...He gave me the name of a Doctor..."
If you look at it, when a star was in trouble, didn't they have "Specialist" that could get them out of it ? Someone on the payroll who would do illegal things ?
