Marisa Velez should NEVER have died, that was SO wrong. In the end, she and Leo should have ended up on the beach in Jamaica with Rollie and his gal Kim. It was bogus and wrong for her to die, and it wasn't necessary to the plot. I love this movie, but this was one area where they truly screwed up.

Her death was intended to imply the deep mob connection to what is going down and is what makes the retired cop suspicious of the DA.
