Mrs. Fisher ruined San Salvatore!

Why did they invite that old woman? She was so b*tchy & uptight, especially in the beginning. I suppose that is how elderly people acted in those times. Also, Lottie inviting her husband was ridiculous.

It appears you missed the point of the film.

Ya know, I just wanted to type on this board that I thought the character of Mrs. Fisher was an uptight b*tch in the beginning of the film. What's the big deal?

What?

I don't know what the big deal is -- none on my side.

What I was saying is since all you thought of Mrs Fisher was she was "b!tchy and uptight," wondered why they'd invited her, and thought Lottie inviting her husband was ridiculous, it appears you missed the point of the film, and that is true.

They accepted both Mrs Fisher and Lady Caroline because they were the only two who'd answered their ad, and they couldn't afford it by themselves. They wouldn't have chosen either one, if they had a choice.

Mrs Fisher was pompous, uptight, and overbearing in the beginning (as was Lottie's husband. And Caroline was superficial and self-absorbed.

But the point is how San Salvatore -- which represents love -- healed all of them. First Lottie, who was the most sensitive of them. At first she just seemed dotty and loopy, but likable. As it turned out, she was the wisest of them all. Then Rose, then Caroline. Eventually also Mrs Fisher, Mellersh, and Frederick.
