If you like this, have you seen Mrs Palfrey at The Claremont?

I just love this film! It's so different than any I've ever seen, but is beautiful and touching. Definitely a feel good movie.

Have any of you seen Mrs Palfrey at The Claremont? It leaves you with the same feeling, although not until you have had to go through a tragedy. That woman is amazing!

This is definitely a feel good movie. I can't believe I've waited so long to see it!

No haven't seen Mrs Palfrey but thanks for the recommendation, I soon will. EDIT: I just saw it, fine performance by Dame Plowright. Charming and sweet film.

I know this is very late, but I wanted to answer anyway. I *love* Mrs. Palfrey, it's one of my favourites :) Joan Plowright and Rupert Friend were both perfect in their roles, and I love rewatching it on Netflix.

Going on for 6 years late but heyho, since you asked, yes I have seen both, and I liked both. :) Joan is so much softer and milder in MPATC than she is in Enchanted April, but she's likeable in both.

The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

Not a very likeable character in Enchanted April for quite a long time!

I loved her in The Enchanted April, but agree she was insufferable and unlikable until 2/3rds through the film. But I loved that about her character; she was the most curmudgeonly and difficult, yet even she, eventually, succumbed to the powers of Lottie and the castle. It was perfect.

I've seen you on a few boards I've visited, Turtle. I think primarily The Big Country board. I've enjoyed your posts. So sorry these invaluable boards, and their archived threads and posts, will soon vaporize. Shame on IMBd for this decision.

reply

Thanks for the kind words catbookss and indeed it is a darn shame IMDb is doing this. One can only hope the uproar over it will make them reconsider. They've been vaporizing posts on threads for some time so the archival aspect of some of the better posts and threads has been lost for some time- now this.

You're welcome, Turtle.

Yes, I signed the petition that had the most momentum going, but in the end it may not mean anything to IMDb. In case it does, I figure 4 seconds out of my life to sign it is certainly more than worth the boards potentially staying.

I've noticed the same thing, invaluable threads (not any of mine) being vaporized, and yet hosting is SO cheap these days. It can't be about that. Eh, whatever, IMDb has lost a lot of goodwill from its users at this point.

I've only been here a little less than 4 years (more than that lurking), and have always admired many of the long-time posters, whio've given so much of their time and thoughts that contributed to this and all other boards, and made me, amongst many others, stick around, and open an account.

Well, they'll see how much their traffic drops when they vaporize the boards. Not our problem; it's theirs.
