Amazing

I loved this movie. But my God is it sad. Couple notes/questions...

1. Did Victor die in the end or not? I couldn't tell.

2. Scott Campbell was really attractive in this movie, but he doesn'tlook even close to that anymore. :-( Oh well, still performed to perfection.

It doesn't say. He decides to return to the hospital to fight his cancer & Hillary tells him she'll be with him no matter what. I think from the way she helps him as they leave the house and walk toward the car, that he is very sick and probably won't make it.

But in the book (hope I'm not spoiling it for you in case you haven't read it) he decides to commit suicide. Hillary drives away leaving him standing in the door of the house. The book is not sweet like the movie. At least that's my opinion.

I noticed on this website that pictures of Campbell Scott today show him as middle-aged! But he was about 30 when Dying Young was made, and that was all the way back in 1991.

By the way, his mother was Colleen Dewhurst and one of her last movie roles was in Dying Young. She played Estelle, who read tea leaves and owned the maze. Ms. Dewhurst died of cancer not long after this movie came out. It was sort of funny in the movie when her character made mention of an "idiot child" and seemed to be looking straight at Victor when she said it.
